Title: Getting away from it all
Review: We were looking for a place in the mountains to get away from it all, for some quality family time. The biggest criteria was that it was private and near a river. We decided on McIntosh #1 and we found exactly what we were looking for. The cabin was everything we wanted and was very comfortable. It was very nicely equipped with all the basic things that make staying in a cabin such a wonderful experience-hot tub, rocking chairs, porch swings, grill, etc...It was so nice going to sleep and sitting the hot-tub with the sound of the rushing river only yards away. You definitely are away from it all here, and are able to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. The only negative was the road into the cabin. Once you leave the paved road, it was a very tricky drive on a very narrow and steep gravel road. On one side you had the mountain, and only a few yards away on the other side was a very steep and long drop to the river. Needless to say, there wasn't much room for error in your driving. To widen or pave the road and some guard rails on the river side of the road would help a lot. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and really liked our experience. As an added note, the employees of Mountain Rentals of Gatlinburg were all very friendly and were helpful in assisting us with our search and reservations. Check in and checkout were the easiest experience we've ever had in the mountains. We would definitely recommend them.
