Title: A great place for a time of escape and rest

Review: Our 35th anniversary is this summer. We had been to Gatlinburg several times before with our children and stayed in town, but now they are grown and here was our first vacation just the two of us. An online search lead us to the Artist's Nest and we decided that it was time to treat ourselves to something special. From the beginning to the end it was as if it was our own home. We had no contact with anyone outside of the internet. We would like to send a special thank you to the owners of the Artist's Nest for making it a special place to stay. Your attention to detail in decorating and all the amenities was a real blessing to us. Your "bear" theme throughout the house was fun. We really had to take the time to look around or we would overlook the little things that made it feel like a home. We prepared all our meals in the house, but one. The kitchen had all the supplies and all we needed to bring was the food. We are bird watchers, so each morning we could sit with our coffee on the balcony and listen to the Carolina Wrens, Phoebees, Song Sparrows, and many others serenade us. Our first drive up to the house was an adventure, but really the drive itself wasn't the biggest challenge. It was the roads leading up to the drive.. there was that hairpin turn on Echo road that lead into the steepest part so you couldn't get a running start. But in our 5 day stay we got used to it but we own a flatlander's car that was glad to go back home. If you are looking for a place that isn't just something someone built to rent, and if you want a place in the mountains and enjoy nature in a quiet retreat, then you should consider the Artist's Nest.
