Title: Wonderful Place but, watch the directions
Review: The cabin was extremely clean, warm and cozy, and very well appointed. The Hot Tub was perfect. These are mountain cabins, and you drive on winding, steep, mountain roads to get to them. My only real complaint is the directions and the road signs have problems. The road signage on these winding roads is very poor at best. Truthfully, the road signage or lack thereof, is really the only problem that we had. We spent the better part of 1 hour trying to find our cabin. After we found it, and rewrote our directions, then driving down to the FlapJack house in Gatlinburg took all of 9 minutes. The directions along with the road signage are definitely a problem. I think that Mountain Rentals should have an "individual map" drawn for each rental cabin, with all of the intricacies. Example, the road sign for our cabin was "Oak Ct" or "Big Oak Ct". YES, there were 2 actual street signs for our street. Another example is the sign for Twin Oaks Road is totally hidden inside of a bush, which we thought about trimming so that others could read it. Another example is, when leaving the cabin and heading down the mountain, Elm St just turns into Skyline Drive with no indication of signage that tells you that you are now on a different road. In fact, Elm St is a real problem all by itself. Example: There are actually 2 Elm St signs, and one has an arrow pointing a direction. However, with the arrowed Elm St sign post bent a little, is it pointing to go "Up" the road behind the sign, or is it just bent and really pointing "Down" the REAL Elm St. road? Hint: Down the road is the REAL Elm Street. It really is bad. For our next rental, I think we will get one that is much closer to the bus station, and is not so far up the mountain. But we loved the cabin for sure.
